VLM named best business carrier
VLM Airlines was named as Best Business Airline for Western Europe at a new awards ceremony for the aviation and travel industry.
The Belgian carrier scooped the accolade during the inaugural Business Destinations magazine annual Travel Awards.
A panel of experts judged the awards, which are designed to highlight the companies that have dominated and excelled in the business travel market.
Over 70 per cent of VLM passengers are travelling for business purposes and so the airline has strong experience in successfully catering to this market.
The airline also recently introduced online check-in which has increased flexibility for customers that are usually under time pressure.
Inside the environmentally-friendly turboprop planes, passengers can relax in ergonomic Kevlar seats that offer flexible and comfort.
VLM's MD, Johan Vanneste said, "VLM Airlines' is honoured to receive this recognition."
"The awards are a powerful acknowledgement of our ongoing growth in the business travel sector and the premium services we provide our customers".
"VLM Airlines is dedicated to providing the highest levels of service and is continually striving to set new standards in the airline industry," he added.
VLM started operations in 1993 with a regular service from Antwerp to London City Airport but now operates routes to 12 destinations around Europe.
This includes Amsterdam, Brussels, Rotterdam, Hamburg, Luxemburg, Jersey, Manchester and the Isle of Man.
The airline was taken over in November 2007 by aviation giant Air France-KLM, which has contributed to its continued success.
