Utell announces special business hotel portfolio

Utell announces special business hotel portfolio Hotel representation company Utell has put together a portfolio of 70 independent hotels, which cater for the needs of business travellers, such as those offering high-speed internet access and conference centres, in major cities across the world.

The Utell Business Collection can be used by travel agents to save time looking for business-friendly hotels.

Diana Banks, Utell's senior vice president of sales and marketing, said: "We have been delighted by the continued success of the Utell Collections, and are extremely proud of the outstanding early results they are delivering to members."

While nearly 70 hotels have already been included in the portfolio, high profile hotel groups such as the Silken Group and Apex Hotels have also been signed up.

Yet according to the first 'Utell Us Survey', these top names may not impress most business travellers, as 92 per cent of UK travellers say the hotel brand is the least important factor when choosing accommodation.

The survey shows that both business and leisure travellers are increasingly choosing independent hotels.

Peter Fitzgerald, president of Utell Hotels and Resorts, commented: "The Utell Us survey demonstrates that UK consumers want originality and choice in their accommodation as well as flexibility and security in how they book."

Asking more than 1,600 UK business and leisure travellers, Utell found that while most respondents are not concerned about a hotel's brand, some 15 per cent are actively seeking out independent hotels when bookings.

This figure increases among older generations, with 19 per cent of over-55s preferring bespoke accommodation.
