Over 100 flights were cancelled at London's Heathrow Airport yesterday (April 6th) due to the severe weather.
The snow that fell across the most of Britain led British Airways to cancel 185 flights in and out of Heathrow Airport.
Cancellations are also expected today (April 7th) as officials from the airline and airport operator BAA work against a series of knock-on effects from a baggage handling problem on Saturday.
Some ten per cent of today's flights are expected to be cancelled, with British Airways suggesting passengers keep up-to-date with departure and arrival information via its website.
Passengers who booked flights directly through British Airways may be able to obtain a refund or rebook for alternative travel.
On Saturday morning, British Airways cancelled 12 flights six outbound and six inbound at its new Terminal 5 base after baggage handling software failed.
Problems with the baggage system were partially to blame for disruptions to travel over the first few days of British Airways' service from Terminal 5 on March 27th.
Heathrow's operating organisation BAA took responsibility for the baggage-related delays this weekend, issuing an apology to British Airways and its passengers.
"This morning a software problem has arisen in the baggage system at T5. This is entirely BAA's responsibility," a statement read.
The problem was repaired on Sunday morning, although passengers faced further delays and cancellations due to the unseasonable weather.
As well as causing cancellations at Heathrow Airport, flights to and from Gatwick Airport were affected by the weekend's snowfall.
