Leeds Bradford Airport scores highly on punctuality

Leeds Bradford Airport scores highly on punctuality Leeds Bradford International Airport (LBIA) was praised for being the most punctual airport with the shortest average delays, it has been announced.

According to the latest punctuality statistics from the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), the airport also has the second best on-time performance among 75 airports worldwide.

The figures reveal that LBIA boasts the shortest average delay of 7.3 minutes, which compares favourably with 12 minutes at Manchester Airport and 14.2 minutes at Newcastle.

It also has an 85.5 per cent on-time performance which outstripped many other major European and international airports.

Tony Hallwood, LBIA commercial & aviation development director, said he is "extremely pleased" that the airport team and business partners could deliver these "excellent results".

"We pride ourselves on our relationships with all our airlines," he added. "We have shown that flying from Leeds Bradford can provide an efficient, reliable and relaxed start for our passengers whether they are travelling on business or on holiday."

The airport has been nominated for a prestigious leisure award at the annual British Travel Awards to be held in London in November.

Mr Hallwood told the Yorkshire Evening Post that all the airport team are "thrilled to have been nominated for the award" and stated that "we are proud to be recognised as delivering our widest ever choice of services to Yorkshire".

In more good news for the northern hub, airline Jet2 has announced that it is to expand its services from Leeds Bradford with two more European routes.
