Extra load offer form easyJet

Extra load offer form easyJet Low-cost carrier, easyJet has introduced a new facility allowing passengers to buy additional weight allowance for baggage to be carried in the hold.

Passengers are able to buy the extra weight capacity in advance either over the phone or - to receive a discount - by using an online function.

Extra weight can be purchased in three-kilogram denominations, costing £15 each when bought online or £18 at the check-in desk.

Peter Gerstle, easyJet product development manager, pointed out that "extra weight pre-payment is the latest facility easyJet has introduced to save its passengers time and money".

"easyJet's industry-leading website, easyJet.com, has been designed to make life easier for its customers, providing the greatest range of functionality and convenience in advance."

He added his belief that this makes the "process of travelling through the airport much quicker and hassle-free".

The low-cost operator also announced that it was due to station extra aircraft at Malpensa Airport in Milan.

As part of an expansion programme in Northern Italy, easyJet will bring its number of planes based at the airport to 13 in time for the winter schedule.

Andy Harrison, easyJet chief executive, indicated at a press conference in Milan yesterday that they are "investing €600m to make Malpensa one of the best-connected airports in Europe".

"By January 2009, we will have a fleet of 15 aircraft in Milan. With one in five passengers flying with easyJet, we have now become the largest airline in Malpensa.

"Thanks to this phenomenal growth, Malpensa has now become easyJet's largest base on the European continent," he added.

The Milan Malpensa Airport base was established by easyJet in March 2006 and the airline expects to carry around 3.5 million from there during 2008.
