Eastern Airways named most punctual carrier in the UK

Eastern Airways named most punctual carrier in the UK Eastern Airways has been revealed as the most punctual scheduled airline currently operating in the UK, according to figures released.

Using statistics from the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), Flightontime.info pinpointed Eastern Airways as having the strongest punctuality record for January to March this year.

An average delay of less than seven minutes was maintained by the regional operator with 89 per cent of its flights departing or arriving within 15 minutes of the planned time.

At its Birmingham base, Eastern Airways had 92 per cent of its flights arriving or departing within 15 minutes and the average delay was just five minutes.

The airline was positioned ahead of Air Berlin which came in second place, followed by Brussels Airlines, bmi regional, bmibaby, and Ryanair.

Chris Holliday, Eastern Airways' chief operating officer, said the record was due to "the sterling efforts of our pilots, cabin attendants and ground staff".

"Being on time is very important to our business customers and we always aim to provide the most punctual service possible."

"However, we mustn't become complacent and we will continue to focus on our on-time performance to remain the most punctual airline in the UK," he added.

The introduction of dedicated security channels at many of Eastern Airlines' UK bases has aided punctuality with passengers being able to proceed through check-in more easily.

Eastern Airways is an independent carrier that operates from 18 airports around the UK to service 800 flights a week to both domestic and European destinations.
